Paris - The influential French daily Le Figaro has named Democrat presidential frontrunner John Kerry as “the most admired Frenchman of all time.” Kerry beat out such notables as Napoleon, Charles DeGaulle, Maurice Chevalier, Gerard Depardieu, Klaus Barbie and Pepe Le Pew.
‘’Zis ees a great day for me, but an even greater day for ze people of France,’’ said Kerry during a champagne-and-caviar fundraiser at his apartment in the 5th Arondissement of Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower. ‘’Finally, zere ees a man running for ze presidency who cares more about France than about America. Now, all Europe can bask in my reflected glory. Vive la France! Vive Le Kerry!”
In related news, French President Jacques Chirac announced today that he is officially endorsing Kerry and will campaign vigorously for the Massachusetts Democrat. Chirac will spearhead Kerry’s campaign in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Berkeley, California, and the Democrat strongholds of Teheran, Iran and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
