Branson, Missouri - Officials of Global Concerts, Inc., the nation’s largest promoter of nostalgia acts, said that former Democrat challenger Wesley Clark is joining Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis for a national tour of debates among the three-Democrat also-rans.
“This act is going to have a lot of appeal to aging hippies and Grateful Dead fans,” said Marty Bettelman, President and CEO of Global. “There’s a market out there for people who are so stoned they actually want to listen to three boring guys talk for five hours about the need for doubling income taxes, increasing welfare benefits and handing over America’s sovereignty to the United Nations.”
Opening acts for the Three Democrats will be Peter, Paul and Mary, Buffy St-Marie and the newly reconstituted Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Corporate sponsors will include Tab Diet Cola and Dynasco, the nation’s largest maker of mood rings and pet rocks.
