1985 was a year full of feathered hair, parachute pants and K-Swiss. But for Calvin Therman of Oakhurst California it was the peak of leg warmers. Absorbed into a plastic society from the recent release of Flashdance, leg warmers could be found at every high school and local mall. "It was a boner a day" said Calvin, "Big hair, sweater over one shoulder and a set of leg warmers, I was in heaven." Of course he was not talking about his attire, but the common dress for most teenage girl in his area. "I have managed to adapt to most of today's trends. I kinda like short hair and although sweaters are no longer showing shoulders, they are tighter. But I cannot get over my feelings for the leg warmer."
Calvin is not the only victim of this syndrome, A small group has been meeting for the last four years with similar symptoms. Dr. Winchell is the organizer of the group known to it's members as WHAM (Winchell's Hand in Adapting Men) and offers us some insight to the group. "Many men have unsatisfied sexual fantasies being carried over from the 80's. Members suffering from fetishes such as hair styles and wardrobe, to personal issues dealing with banana combs as an extension of manhood." Dr. Winchell tells us that one out of eight men from ages 27 to 39 suffer from this infliction he has coined as "Benataritis".
Calvin has recently left the group noting concerns with Winchell's extreme methods but recognizes that he still has a problem. "I just plan to take each new relationship one day at a time. Speaking of which, Valerie Bertinelli was hot! Man, what ever happened to her?" Calvin tells us his free time mostly consist of watching various 80's movie and masterbating to the Gogo's album covers.
