Dan Rather of CBS fame insists that the hotly debated "Bush memos", which have come under intense scrutiny, are genuine. The memos, using a font wich would have been unusual at best in the 1960s, also contain misuse of acronyms such as Lt.-Col. instead of the military convention of LTC.
"I understand the memo is indistinguishable from one typed in MS-Word using the default template, but at CBS we are careful to corroborate any source. In this case we have a secondary source - a member of the Democratic National Committee, a different one, has forwarded an e-mail from the memo author Col. Jerry Killian which we have checked out thoroughly. Also, CBS has obtained the text of an IM conversation between Killian and an unknown Texas National Guard officer.
