Washington, DC – This week President Bush declared that, "the Iraqi people have their country back." Which concluded the controversial question of sovereignty glooming over the U.S. and Iraqi people for several months. Iraq is now self-ruled.
With this comes many unresolved issues which parties hope to sort out in the next few months. One pending issue President Bush would like immediate resolution is the $3.5 million cleaning deposit the U.S. put down prior to taking over power in Iraq.
“As described in the terms of our lease.” Said Bush. “We have left Iraq in a satisfactory and functional condition. We feel any damage in the last year should be considered normal wear and tear and should not reflect on the reimbursement of our deposit.”
Interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said the U.S. has cause far more damage than the original deposit covered. Allawi has already begun noting damage left behind from the U.S. which will most likely be sent to the Bush along with an invoice.
“Flattened buildings, streets in ruins, thousands dead, pet stains, and half the toilets in Baghdad are either clogged or missing.” Added Allawi. “This is not considered normal wear and tear. Even for this part of the country.”
Bush has asked Allawi to hold off on any action until July 18th. The Bush administration is currently construction a bill which would send 2000 Merry-Maids to Iraq. Audrey Barry, foreman for the Merry-Maids claims she will assist in handing over sovereignty, with a shine.
